The Village Balbaa restaurant - Translation

On Monday evening Megos slept here again and we started discussing about Egyptian food, especially about pigeons. Because I had never eaten pigeon we decided to solve this problem soon.

We didn’t wait long to carry out our plan and yesterday, in early afternoon we visited the Village Balbaa restaurant, which is quite popular among the habitants of Alexandria. As long as we were waiting for the main course, they put several small plates on the table with dipping, which you can eat with the freshly baked and still warm bread.

Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long for the pigeons and we didn’t have time to eat too much from the appetizer. As we looked downstairs we saw as they were bringing the fried pigeons on a big tray and soon they were front of us.

The taste of the pigeon is similar to a duck’s meat and from this comparison the duck is closer to my hearth (stomach). Otherwise it has quite a few meat so you dont get the „I bite a big one”-feeling. It is filled with rice and they leave the liver and the hearth in it as well. We couldnt finish the lunch without drinking a tea which came with little menta-leaves. After this we went for a walk beside the coast to have a little work-out after this great lunch.
